on Mon, 2011-05-16 13:38

~Hello peoples

Thank you for visiting our Sidewalk website.  We have  trips planned for May- Lightwater Valley (organised by the Church of England- I wonder if our patron Bishop Richard Frith will have a ride on the rollarcoasters)  and June- Culture Shock in Harrogate.  This should be a fabulous day like mini festival-- music, activities and hopefully sunshine!

Hello from Sharon Stone

on Fri, 2011-03-11 15:22

Hello Everybody

Thank you for visiting our website/facebook- thanks to Bruce and Gemma.  This is our newly developed website and Bruce has had to pin me to the chair(ouch it hurts!) to write something on here as I find websites/facebook not my preferred method of communication- preferring good old fashioned text messaging(?) and conversations on the phone- so if you are visiting us and would like more information  about the work that we undertake or would like to get involved in Sidewalk please  ring us at the office!  blessings and bubble gum Sharon

The show goes on!

on Fri, 2010-11-05 12:29

Sharon says "O Wow! O Wow! O Wow! O Wow! O Wow!" The long awaited funding for her job as administrator has come in which means she has enough money for another year. All the workers can breathe a sigh of relief. Sharon can now commit more time to other things than endless application forms for funding. I am not sure if we can at this point say who the funder is but we are very grateful and rthankful to God for his goodness!

Bye Bye KT

on Fri, 2010-10-08 11:47

Katy Hagan who has been a worker for Sidewalk for many years has now left us. KT goes back a long way! She was one of the young people that Sidewalk then under the management of Dave Ward and Rich Pashby met on the streets. She was obviously impressed with the work because she started a youth workers course and became one of our main workers. KT's made a unique contribution to the work . Her humour and ability to get alongside  the young people will be missed. KT has had a memorable holiday in Turkey and has gone back to catch up with a friend ;o) ... after that a trip round the US of A! We all had a great night at the Tika Tika ... anyone got any photos?

SIDEWALK WINS AWARD!

on Fri, 2010-10-01 19:19

Some local funding was available from Scarborough Borough Council this summer. The idea was that among 30+ applicants people had to decide which ones they thought were most deserving. "Who were these people?" I hear you say. Well - anybody who is willing to spend a lovely sunny day in the library listening to one presentation after another. To the absolute delight of Sharon and the team some of the young people came and represented Sidewalk in the appeal for funding! This being probably the most impressive argument for funding one could expect no doubt made such an impression on the voters that Sidewalk came very near the top candidate for funding! - Well done Sharon and the boys!
